Well, so far so good.
The CrossCountry Trains service from Dundee to Exeter got me from Kirkcaldy to Leeds on time and in just under 4 hours. It was a comfortable journey too - by booking many weeks in advance and using my senior railcard, the 1st class carriage had become affordable.
4 Trains
From Leeds to Bradford is just a few minutes on a local service.
I’d chosen the Jurys Inn in Bradford because on the map it seemed to be a short walk from both the railway station and the main focus of the trip - the ice arena. I was right. Jurys isn’t a brand I’ve used often, but this one has been fine. A quiet and comfortable, 6th floor, corner room.
Comfort
The weather was cold and wet when I arrived, so walking around the city centre wasn’t appealing.
Alhambra Theatre
The reason for coming here was my son’s ice hockey match for Edinburgh Universities against Leeds Universities. A 22:30 face off in an ice arena which has seen better days.
Zamboni Flood
It turned out to be an entertaining and competitive game, with Edinburgh winning 6:2. That keeps Edinburgh on top of their league - the British Universities Division 1 (North).
Spot the Puck
Next, Sheffield on Sunday night.
